Park Line Update
The East Summit Association worked closely with the Coalition to Stop the Freight Train between 2003 and 2010. Fortunately, Union County was forced to suspend the railway reactivation plans due to lack of funding.
Most recently, a local effort has started to convert the abandoned rail right of way to a linear park. The project is known as the Summit Park Line. Even though logistics and local resident privacy issues are of a concern, this is a much more acceptable alternative to the Freight Train option that was discussed earlier.
